This study aims to ascertain the optimal, tolerance and toxic levels of iron in a protein-free embryo culture medium (PFM) to determine the effect of iron on embryonic development. This study suggests that ferric iron at levels similar to that present in human plasma enhances the culture milieu by improving spermatozoa motility and maintains spermatozoa DNA integrity. The effect on embryos is less convincing as the improvement in embryo development, though present, was insignificant. No precise formulation is present.
